About

I’m Kristen Miller, PhD. For years I designed survey questions and sampling for the federal government — the methods behind data that has to be comparable, inclusive, and legally sound. Now I bring that rigor to community research: helping local governments, nonprofits, and coalitions ask better questions and get data they can actually act on.

This publication is where I think out loud about question design and sampling for community research — the methods, the real dilemmas, and the work as it happens. It’s also a home for displaced federal researchers who want to keep that expertise alive.
